THE CLIENT

The Serpentine Bar & Kitchen is located within Patrick Gwynne's iconic building, situated on the eastern edge of the Serpentine in Hyde Park. Inspired by English country living, the restaurant aspires to provide a haven for both London locals and visitors.

THE OBJECTIVE

On the occasion of the restaurant refurbishment handled by Path Design, I was asked by The Royal Parks to create a hand drawn custom-made wallpaper to cover the central 8-metre rotunda.

THE SOLUTION

With the aim of paying tribute to the first wallpaper created when the restaurant opened, I worked on a repetitive pattern that depicted the flowers, leaves, and birds that can be found in Hyde Park.

The concept was to bring the outdoors indoors and enhance that sense of tranquility.

This could lead to longer customer dwell times and increased satisfaction, as patrons enjoyed both the culinary experience and the visual ambiance.

By combining a limited, muted colour palette with intricate lines and light elements, the final result seamlessly blended with the surroundings while also offering the adaptability to be easily tailored for various formats, including menus and tableware.
